Flooring & tile

The CRM that starts at the subfloor.

Supply and install or labour only, tear-out and self-levelling, square feet of floor with stairs priced per tread, and the product, the lot numbers and the lay direction signed off before a box is ordered — Daybook speaks flooring.

Flooring is the third trade Daybook was finished for, after the masonry company it was built inside and painting. Not the same app with a different noun in the headline: flooring has its own job types, its own checklists, its own quoting words, its own price list and its own quote builder, and every screen that used to say brick or stone says plank, subfloor or transition to a floor layer.

The quote builder is the part that earns its keep. Pick the job type — luxury vinyl plank, laminate, hardwood, tile, carpet, sheet vinyl or subfloor prep — and it opens with that job’s core scope already ticked: the plank, the underlayment, the install labour, the transitions and the disposal for an LVP floor; thinset and grout for tile; pad and tack strip for carpet. Each piece carries its own quantity in its own unit — square feet of floor, bags of compound, boxes of fasteners, feet of tack strip, days on a tile saw — so you tick the scope and put your own numbers in, rather than hunting the right line in a list built for someone else’s trade.

The flooring & tile toolkit.

On top of everything Daybook does for every trade — the full list is here — flooring & tile gets its own tools.

A flooring scope picker in the quote builder

Seven job types, each with its own scope chips: LVP and laminate over underlayment with transitions, hardwood with fasteners and a sander when it is being refinished, tile with thinset, grout and a saw, carpet with pad and tack strip, sheet vinyl glued down, and subfloor prep with tear-out, plywood and self-levelling. You tick what is in scope and enter the quantities — a scope picker, not a geometry takeoff.

A flooring price list, ready to price

Installer and helper by the hour; LVP, laminate, solid and engineered hardwood, tile, carpet and sheet vinyl by the square foot; underlayment, carpet pad, moisture barrier, self-levelling compound and plywood; adhesive, thinset, grout, staples and tack strip; transitions, baseboard and quarter round; sander and tile-saw rental; furniture moving, delivery and tear-out disposal — a labelled starter list on day one, with your own prices on it.

What an hour of work charges

Four cost-first levers — the installer’s wage, the burden on it, your overhead per hour and the margin you want — derive the rate labour bills at, starting from flooring’s own reference figures rather than a mason’s. Edit them in Settings or in the Quote Builder hub; a quote you have already sent keeps the levers it was priced on, so a change never re-prices it behind your back.

Checklists written for floor layersCrew and up

A pre-install site check for the subfloor, the moisture reading, whether the material is on site acclimating and what has to be levelled — there when you want it; then a product & layout confirmation that pins the exact product, the dye-lot numbers and the lay direction before you order, and a final walkthrough with the deficiencies, the offcuts hauled and the care instructions left behind. The last two attach to every install automatically and both have to be done before the job can be marked complete.

VisualizerCompany

Try your own flooring on the customer’s photo of their own room — the picker says choose your flooring, one tap fills every area of that material, and they can compare finishes in their portal before they commit.

AI that knows the trade

Supply and install against install-only labour, tear-out, subfloor prep, transitions, acclimation, the waste factor when floor area becomes material, and stairs priced per tread — drafts and job summaries use a floor layer’s vocabulary, and the auto-classifier files a job as LVP, laminate, hardwood, tile, carpet, sheet vinyl or prep.

Try it on the floor you are measuring today.

Your own numbers beat any feature list — pick the job type, tick the scope and let your own rates price the room.
